Masked doorbell ditchers . . .

Kent's brother had to have a minor procedure done, so for family home evening last week we decided to bring him over a homemade apple pie, but we were going to do a doorbell ditch instead of just bringing it to him. Kent and the kids got all psyched up about it and even found masks to use to hide their identity. Tyler was Superman, Morgan was Bat Girl, and Kent used his flourescent orange hunting mask and called himself the Human Torch (he's also a superhero for all those whol don't have superhero obsessed boys!). We plotted our course and decided that they would walk through the small field behind their house, past their fenced-in backyard and up to theirporch. Then they would ditch the pie on their porch, ring the doorbell, hide, wait to see if they answered, then run back behind their fence, through the field and into the waiting van. It was fool proof! Except one minor detail - at the EXACT moment they were getting ready to cross the road to the field, our sister-in-law just HAPPENED to drive by!!!!! She saw us, slowed down, and was going to turn back to see if we needed something, but the kids and Kent just kept up with the plan and she then realized we were up to something, so she drove away. PLAN FOILED!! They have a hard time hearing the doorbell in the back of the house, so after a few unsuccessful tries of the doorbell Kent had to just open the door and set the pie in the house. They didn't see it happen, but figured out who it was. Oh well, the kids had a blast doing it. The next day Tyler made this picture at school. It says "When we went at Briley's house and it was my favorite thing." He must have really enjoyed it! Notice they are each wearing the masks they had on the night before - Morgan on the left in the Batman mask, Tyler wearing a red Spiderman mask and Kent in an orange Human Torch mask! Also the red door and the green pie on the porch. Too cute!

This sounds like it was so much fun. That is so cute how Tyler wrote about it the next day at school. Tyler, you are such a great writer! Great job!! I also loved your "kid interview" on being a mom. I guess putting away those dishes and clothes makes an impact on them?! I am anxious to hear more about your plans to go back to school! Keep us posted!!!
