Christmas at the Zoo

Since my parents have zoo membership, they like taking us to the different holiday celebrations at the zoo. This was the first year we went to Christmas at the Zoo. My mom wasn't feeling well, so she didn't go, but my dad was really excited to take us. We got to see real reindeer! Sadly, though, they weren't Santa's. :)

It was pretty cold, so I had all the kids bundled up with lots of layers and warm coats, hats and gloves. Callie won't keep her hat on unless we are outside where it is cold. She must realize that it really does help keep her little head and ears warm!

She loved watching all the underwater creatures swim around. Plus it was nice to get out of the cold for a bit!

The dolphin show was pretty cool. They did a T'was the night before Christmas theme. It was completely PACKED! We were like a can of sardines!

At Santa's workshop they decorated cookies and made New Year's Eve noise shakers. They could also write letters to Santa and visit with him, but we went after Christmas, so we didn't do those activities.

It was a little crazy having Callie there because she started getting antsy and didn't want to stay in her stroller. Plus she started getting hungry and tired, so it was nice to be able to let her get out and walk around awhile while the kids enjoyed all the indoor activities. We all stopped and had a snack as well. My dad got the lucky job of taking the other three on a potty break all by himself! Mind you, I had already made a trip to the bathroom twice with Callie. By then, I think my dad and I were ready to call it an evening!

Where Santa would have sat had he been there.

These trees were one of my favorite things. They were at the very end of our evening, so we only watched them for a couple of minutes, but they would blink along with whatever song was being played. It was a lot of fun to watch!

Thanks, Dad, for taking us! The kids had a lot of fun!
